25-thousand public sector job losses, axing dozens of decentralisation projects and shutting down quangos and state agencies will all be announced today.
The Government’s latest part of its cuts will be revealed in a public service reform programme this afternoon.
These latest reforms are committed to in the Troika bailout.
Public sector numbers must drop to 302,000 this year – but with the recruitment embargo it’s already down to about 297k
The Government will confirm plans to axe some 25,000 public sector jobs by 2015, reducing the service to 282+K.
Reformed annual leave arrangements will also be imposed.
And decentralisation will be under the spotlight again – 40 projects that have not progressed will be ditched once and for all.
One of the biggest areas for the Government will be the axing or merging of around 50 quangos and state agencies.
And the Government will outline how savings can be made through improved procurement and shared services such as payroll and H-R and even the potential to outsource some services.
