The West-Clare based President of the Irish College of Psychiatrists claims the government must follow through on its 11-year-old mental health plan – before starting a new one.
It’s after it emerged there are 2,000 less staff in the mental health sector than was recommended in the ‘A Vision for Change’ document in 2006.

There are currently 10,800 mental health professionals in this country – but the plan recommends that there should be 12,800 full-time staff.
Spanish Point Doctor John Hillery believes the lack of recruitment is having a knock-on effect.
