Ministers Michael Noonan and Brendan Howlin will outline new spending cuts and tax hikes totalling 2.5 billion euro, including around 900 million in tax increases.
Full details won’t be known until later this afternoon, though it appears motorists will escape being hit, but drinkers, smokers and pensioners could be among those affected.
Finance Minister Michjael Noonan says the government is striving for as fair a budget as is possible.
