It’s claimed an injection of government funding will be crucial in protecting the future of a prominent West Clare Irish college.
An application is to be made in October for funding for Coláiste Uí Comhraidhe in Carrigaholt, under the government’s Rural Regeneration Fund.

The college has been under strain in recent years, with upgrade works two summers ago necessitating refunds to all parents of pupils who had paid up, while the historic building is in need of refurbishment.
Príomhoide of the Coláiste, Domhnall Ó Lionsigh says this is a welcome development and if the money is granted, it will futureproof their school:
