Government Commits To Implementing Four Measures Proposed By Clare TD Aimed At Alleviating Overcrowding

The Government has committed to implenting four measures proposed by a Clare TD aimed at alleviating overcrowding at the country’s hospitals.

A Dáil motion put forward by Scariff Idependent TD Michael McNamara today called for the expansion of MAUs and injury units to a 24-hour service at model 2 hospitals such as Ennis, Nenagh and St. John’s in Limerick.

It also sought a designated medical officer in every nursing home and for paper-based medical records to be replaced with an electronic system.

Speaking in the Dail this morning, Deputy Michael McNamara, says a major capital investment is needed to reduce trolley numbers.

Minister of State at the Department of Health, Mary Butler accepted the motion on behalf of the Government.

She says the Government will continue to invest and looks forward to implementing the measures.
