The Government claims it’s working to deliver sewerage schemes for two Clare communities “as quickly as possible” but says it understands the frustration of locals.

It’s almost a year since it was confirmed that Broadford and Cooraclare would be included in a €50 million scheme to connect unsewered settlements to wastewater treatment services.

Speaking in the Seanad this week, Tulla Fianna Fáil Senator Timmy Dooley has called out the Department of Housing for failing to provide a progress update and has accused officials of “putting a dead hand” on the projects.

Responding to Senator Dooley on behalf of Housing Minister Darragh O’Brien, Senator Pippa Hackett says developments like these take time.
