The HSE is being called on to ensure that any person that is diagosed with cancer or any other serious illness automatically recieves a medical card.
At present, anyone who applies for a medical card is means tested which can result in delays in processing applications.
At the December meeting of Clare County Council, elected members supported the calls which would automatically entitle anyone diagnosed with cancer to a free medical card.
