It happened on the Malahide Road in Coolock at around 7.45pm.
It's understood the young girl was struck by a van, at the pedestrian crossing, on the inbound lane of the Darndale roundabout.
The van, which is described as an old dark coloured van possibly green, failed to remain at the scene and continued driving towards Dublin city.
The girl was taken to Temple Street Hospital where her condition is described as serious.
