Eamon Gilmore was responding to claims by Labour minister Kathleen Lynch who said she believes the government will have to introduce legislation for abortion in certain circumstances.

The government has committed to dealing with a ruling of the European Court of Human rights in relation to the so called X-Case – which may require legislation.

A number of Fine Gael TDs have said they will vote against any
legislation which introduces abortion.

But speaking in Glenties at the MacGill Summer School Eamon Gilmore said he’s not concerned that the issue will destabilise the coalition.
