Convicted drug trafficker John Gilligan is expected to be released from prison this morning.

Photographers and reporters have gathered outside Portlaoise prison to see the 61-year old after over a decade in Jail.
John Gilligan was one of the main suspects in the murder of Veronica Guerin, but was acquitted by the Special Criminal Court in 2001.
The same court jailed him for 28 years for drugs trafficking, a sentence which was later reduced on appeal. He is expected to leave the prison this morning
