Gardaí are urging residents not to be duped by bogus callers purporting to be Irish Water employees.
It follows a number of reports of a female calling to homes in the Kilrush area on behalf of the company, and requesting access to the house.
Irish Water has confirmed, however, that no employees would be conducting such enquiries in the Clare area.

Garda Siobhan Madden from Clare’s Crime Prevention Office says they believe these people could be targetting homes with a view to carrying out criminal activity.
She’s urging residents not to engage with them and to report any incident like this to your local garda station.
