Gardai warn against driver fatigue

Drivers are being urged to take breaks on long journeys this weekend in a bid to tackle driver fatigue. 

Clare Gardaí will be operating an enhanced enforcement plan over the course of Easter which means more Gardaí will be on duty maning checkpoints and monitoring speeds.

Anyone taking to the roads is being asked to avoid alcohol beforehand, to slow down and to be aware there will be more cyclists and pedestrians out and about. 

Inspector John Ryan of Clare Traffic Corps says they are particularly concerned about motorists becoming tired behind the wheel
