Gardaí are renewing their appeal for information on the murder of an Ardnacrusha man on the 20th anniversary of his death.
Sean Poland was murdered in his home on the night of December 31st, 2002.
Mr Poland was 39 and had been socialising with his partner in Limerick on the night in question.
They returned home just after 11pm when the doorbell rang.
When Mr Poland answered the door, four masked and armed raiders pushed through, with two of them rushing to the sitting room and grabbing Mr Poland’s partner.
They demanded to know “where the money was” according to Gardai, before she heard a shot coming from the hallway.
The intruders stole a sum of money from her handbag and left the house.
Mr Poland’s partner discovered him dead in the hallway with a gunshot wound to his stomach.
Gardaí say they believe a number of people have yet to come forward who may be in a position to bring the perpetrators of the crime to justice.
They’re asking anyone with information to contact investigating Gardaí at Mayorstone Garda Station 061 456 980, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
