Gardaí say they will be mounting checkpoints in rural and urban areas throughout Clare this Bank Holiday weekend.

Traffic volumes are expected to build from this afternoon, but Gardaí say they too will be out in force ensuring that drivers aren't engaged in speeding, drink or drug driving, or using mobile phones while behind the wheel.
Sgt Darragh Molloy of the Clare Garda Traffic Division says there will be both covert and overt operations in place in Clare.
