Gardai are investigating two separate armed robberies in Kerry and Kilkenny.
The Garda Ombudsman is investigating the incident in Kerry after gardai pursuing a vehicle discharged shots.
Just after 11 o'clock this morning, gardai responded to reports of an armed robbery at Waterville Post Office in Co. Kerry where a sum of money was taken.
They intercepted a navy Mazda with the partial registration of 03 D – which ultimately crashed in the Beaufort area of Killarney.
Gardai pursuing the suspected thieves discharged a number of shots, but nobody was injured.
Two men in their 30s who fled the car were arrested and are being questioned, but a third suspect is still being sought.
The Regional Support Unit as well as a dog unit are on scene, and gardai are appealing for witnesses.
The Garda Ombudsman is investigating the incident.
Separately in Kilkenny, a man in his 20s is being questioned after a quantity of cash was stolen from Mullinavat Post Office with a firearm.
