A Garda investigation is underway into an alleged assault of a pensioner in Corofin over the weekend.
An incident is understood to have taken place during a protest against asylum seeker accommodation in the area on Sunday night.

A man in his 70s is currently receiving treatment at University Hospital Limerick for injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening.
Gardaí say enquiries are ongoing.
