Kilrush Gardaí are investigating a ruthless break-in at the home of two elderly sisters in West Clare.
Both women were hospitalised after the incident at their house near Kilkee last Saturday night .
The incident occurred late on Saturday night, between 10:30 and 11:30, at the home in Kildimo, Bansha, near Kilkee.
It’s believed the two elderly sisters were in bed at the time when a group of thieves, understood to be men, gained access to the home.
The sisters, who are both in their eighties, were threatened by the culprits who later absconded with a sum of cash. The women later required treatment in hospital.
Gardaí in Kilrush have launched an investigation. Anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area on Saturday night or the early hours of Sunday morning are urged to contact them on 065 908 0550.
