Gardaí are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man in Co Wicklow, whose body was recovered from the Avoca River overnight.

He was one of two men who entered the water in Arklow- one of them made it to shore and raised the alarm, but the second man, believed to have been a foreign national, died at the scene.
It was feared there may have been another two people missing in the water – but those fears were unfounded and the search was stood down.
Meanwhile, the body of a man in his 40’s has been found on Mornington Beach, in Co. Meath.
Gardai from Laytown are investigating.
