Gardaí are investigating a suspected arson attack on a business premises in Quin- which has previously been targeted in similar incidents.
Several units of Ennis Fire Brigade attended the scene of the blaze at Quin Meats in the village at around 4 o’clock this morning.
Officers say there was serious damage to the rear of building which is comprised of the butchers shop and adjoining residence.
Its understood that evidence of an accelerant was discovered.
The businesses is owned by Hector and Mona Cassley who were away at the time of the fire.
Its not the first time the butcher’s has been targeted – Since June of last year, Mr Cassley has reported four other similar incidents to gardaí – and in two cases, officers found evidence that attempts had been made to set fire to the premises.
The Cassleys who moved to Quin from Antrim in the 80’s lost their only son James, in a plane crash in the Congo in June 2010.
