Gardaí in Galway are investigating a number of violent incidents in the city centre overnight.
A spate of assaults, robberies and a stabbing were reported at several locations between 2am and 3am.
A teenage boy has been arrested.
At around a quarter past two this morning, a 38-yr-old man told officers he'd been threatened by a man with a knife on the Headford road,
Gardai then received a call that two men in their 20's had their wallets and mobile phones stolen as they were threatened at knife point – that incident also occurred on the corner of Headford Road.
The suspect left in the direction of Wood Quay.
Emergency services were then made aware that an 18-year-old man had been stabbed in the stomach at around half two on Wood Quay – the teenager was taken to University College Hospital Galway where his condition is described as non life threatening.
Gardai were given a description by a number of witnesses and a 17-yr-old boy fitting that description was arrested at 3am in Eyre Square – he's being held at Galway Garda station today..
Detectives are still appealing for anyone with information to contact the station where an incident room has been set up – the public can also call the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
