Gardai have identified the remains of a man found dead on a beach on the Clare – Galway border.

He’s been identified as an 86-year-old retiree who was last seen near Salthill on Friday last.
The discovery was made by two people out walking in Aughinish, Kinvara around 8pm on Sunday evening.
A post mortem examination is due to be carried out tomorrow. Gardaí say the man's death is not being treated as suspicious at this stage.
