Gardai have apprehended one of the two male prisoners who absconded from Ennis courthouse earlier today.

18 year old Keith Garrihy of Beechgrove, Newmarket on Fergus was brought into Ennis courthouse just before 5pm today after walking out the back door of Ennis court house at 3.15pm.

Mr Garrihy was one of 12 prisoners remanded to appear before today’s sitting of Ennis District Court.

Mr Garrihy was apprehended by Gardai in the Clarecastle area two miles away.

A second man,  22 year old Jason Freyne who also walked out the back door of the building and made a run for freedom remains at large.

Mr Freyne of Ash Avenue, Carew Park, Limerick had his dangerous driving case dealt with earlier in court where Judge Patrick Durcan heard that Mr Freyne sped away at 140km from a pursuing Garda in a chase along the M18 motorway in April of this year.
