Gardaí and the Health and Safety Authority are investigating an incident in Connolly which has left a man in his forties in a critical condition in hospital.
The man sustained crush injuries in the incident which occured last night, as Clare FM's Derrick Lynch reports.
Shortly after 9 o'clock last night, 2 units of the fire service from Ennis were dispatched to the scene of this accident, a forest at Tulloghboy, Connolly.
They'd been requested to attend there by the ambulance service, who were assisting a man who had sustained crush injuries to his chest, after he became trapped against a truck.
The man was freed, and rushed to University Hospital Limerick, where his condition is described as critical.
Gardaí were also at the scene last night, and are now conducting an investigation in conjunction with the Health and Safety Authority.
It's understood that one other person was with the victim when the incident occured, and that he will be interviewed by officers who are also expected to return to the scene today.
