Clare Gardaí are warning of known bogus tradesmen operating in the Tulla area.
They say they were advertising for work in the area last Friday, through handing out leaflets that looked very professional and had a lot of high quality products named on them.
Gardaí are reminding people not to use cold callers for work on your house and that there are numerous legitimate local tradespeople operating in the county that can be contacted to carry out repairs.
Sergeant Edel Burke, from the Crime Prevention Offfice is also asking people to look out for elderly neighbours who could become a target.
“If you see your neighbours especially elderly neighbours using cold callers, please remind them that the work might not be to a high standard and usually the price increases when the job is nearly finished or else they find a bigger problem and the price goes up, when in fact there is no problem and its all a scam to take money from you.
“If you are in doubt please ring your local garda station and they will send out a garda to assess who the tradesman is and there credentials,” Sergeant Burke concluded.
