Garda Ombudsman Commissioner Kieran Fitzgerald, is in a serious condition in hospital in Spain, after falling while on holiday.

Mr FitzGerald was appointed to the GSOC in December 2011.
He was previously an RTE reporter and Head of Communications and Research for the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission since 2007.
It's understood he fell off a wall onto rocks in northern Spain and was placed in a medically-induced coma.
