A Garda investigation is underway into a spate of burglaries in West Clare on one day over the weekend.
Three homes were targeted by thieves in the Kilkee area on Sunday, while another house in the Lissycasey area was also burgled.
The first burglary happened at Lisdeen, Kilkee shortly before twenty past 3 on Sunday afternoon, when entry was gained through a rear window.
It’s understood those involved got away with a quantity of gold jewellery.
A short time later, around 3.30, the owner of a house in Garraun disturbed a man who had entered her home through a front window.
He left immediately and nothing was taken, but Gardaí say this was a very distressing incident for the homeowner.
The third burglary happened at Bansha between 9am and 6.45 on Sunday evening, during which time the culprits gained entry through French doors at the back of the property.
Separately, a home in Lisseycasey was also burgled on Sunday.
Sometime between 1 and 9pm, entry was gained to a home in Caherea through an open window.
A sum of money was taken, including two 200 euro notes, which has prompted a Garda appeal to retailers in particular to notify them if anyone tried to cash a 200 euro note for diesel or food items.
Gardaí are particularly interested in speaking to anyone who drove along the N67 between Kilrush and Kilkee on Sunday, who may have seen something unusual, such as a lone male walking along the road, or anyone who may have witnessed unusual activity in the Caherea area.
They’re also seeking dashcam footage from anyone in those areas between 7am and 10pm on Sunday.
