The Taoiseach has conceded that the government is open to appointing someone from overseas as the new Garda Commissioner.
Leo Varadkar has this lunchtime told the Fine Gael pre-Dáil meeting that the retirement of Noirin O’Sullivan leaves the opportunity for cultural change and better management.
He says Ireland has a good police force and it’s essential the right leader is found.
