Garda Appeal For Witnesses Following Fatal Road Crash In South East Clare

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in South East Clare.

The single-vehicle collision happened in Cratloe this morning.

Emergency services were alerted shortly after 7 o’clock this morning after a car collided with a wall on the R462 at Ballymorris.

The male driver, a man in his 40s, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Coroner has been notified and the man’s body has been removed to University Hospital Limerick for a post-mortem examination.

National Ambulance Service paramedics and units of Clare County Fire and Rescue Service from Shannon station responded to the scene along with Gardaí.

The road is currently closed pending examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have been travelling on the R462 in Ballymorris, Cratloe between 6:30am and 7:10am this morning to come forward.

They’re particularly interested in speaking to road users who may have camera, mobile phone or dash cam footage.
