Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to a road crash in West Clare, which claimed the life of a woman in her seventies.
She was a rear seat passenger in a car that collided with a ditch at Ballinagun last night.
Emergency services were alerted around twenty past nine last night, to a single car collision on the R483 in Ballinagun, near Kilrush, which resulted in significant damage to the vehicle.
A woman in her seventies, who was a rear seat passenger in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene and was subsequently transported to University Hospital Limerick for a post-mortem examination.
The R483 was closed overnight to facilitate a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
Gardaí in Kilrush are appealing to any person who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.
They’re particularly interested in speaking with any road users who were travelling in the area of Ballinagun and Cree yesterday evening between 8.45pm and 9.45pm.
They’re also seeking camera footage, including dash cam footage to be made available to investigating Gardaí.
