The Government being accused of being "soft" on criminals following the escape of a convicted garda killer from a minimum security jail
26 year old Martin McDermott who’s serving a seven year sentence for the manslaughter of Garda Gary McLoughlin absconded from the prison in Cavan last night but has now been arrested by police in Derry.
The Department of Justice is seeking a full report into how McDermott escaped.
But the Garda Representative Association says the anger within the force is immense and there are other serious questions that need to be answered.
