Future of Shannon Maintenance Staff in the spotlight today

The board of management at Aer Lingus is today expected to discuss plans to move it’s maintenance operations from Shannon to Dublin.

The former flag carrier’s controversial proposals have been criticised by local representatives, who say the move could undermine government plans to re-invigorate Clare’s international airport.

The Transport Minister has said that Aer Lingus is in commercial talks to secure a deal – which could actually increase in maintenance jobs at Shannon Airport. 

However, local Councillor Gerry Flynn feels that plan would not be effective.
