A report from the first review of the deal – covering its first year – is due to be published today.

It found that 600 million euro has been saved so far, which exceeds the target for 2011 – but the report is expected to recommend greater cost savings – to bring the deal on track over the next year.
So far, 290 million has been saved from pay reductions – including a cut in staff by 5,500 – reduced overtime and changes to outdated work practices.
