Further Pressure For Public Sector Staff Despite Meeting Croke Park Targets

Public sector workers may face further pressure to deliver the Croke Park deal in greater time, despite already reaching its targets.

A report from the first review of the deal – covering its first year – is due to be published today.

It found that 600 million euro has been saved so far, which exceeds the target for 2011 – but the report is expected to recommend greater cost savings – to bring the deal on track over the next year.

So far, 290 million has been saved from pay reductions – including a cut in staff by 5,500 – reduced overtime and changes to outdated work practices.
