Funeral Takes Place Of Captain Dara Fitzpatrick

Hundreds of people have attended the funeral of Captain Dara Fitzpatrick in County Dublin.

The Irish coast guard provided a guard of honour for the helicopter pilot who died in the Rescue 116 tragedy off the County Mayo coast on Tuesday.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny and President Michael D Higgins joined her family, friends and colleagues at St Patricks Church in Glencullen to say their final farewell to the mother of one.

Prayers were also said for Captain Fitzpatrick’s fellow crew members who are still missing.

In his homily, Parish Priest Fr Andrew O’Sullivan paid tribute to the Fitzpatrick family and said they and the community had lost a loved and valued member.
