Funds are being raised for a young Ennis girl who is hoping to undergo crucial cancer treatment in London.
5 year-old Mia Flannagan was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia, a form of blood cancer which causes bruises, infections, aches, pains and fatigue just days before her birthday last May.
Mia has undergone extensive treatment at Temple Street’s Children Hospital since, including a bone marrow transplant in August; but following routine blood tests earlier this month, it emerged that she had relapsed.
Children’s Health Ireland is now assessing if Mia is eligible for CAR T-cell therapy in Great Ormond Street Hospital in London, and a gofundme campaign has so far raised over €60,000 for her care.
Co- Organiser and family friend Jacqueline Hartigan says its been a challenging journey.
