The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine has provided over 90,000 euro for the works, with a a third of that to be used to address a serious failure of the pier wall at Ballyvaughan.

Over 20,000 euro is to be spent on upgrading the facility at Carrigaholt, with the remainder used for repairs of pier and sea walls at Liscannor, Cappagh and Kilbaha.

The money will cover three-quarters of the cost of works which will be carried out this year, and has been welcomed by Clare Fine Gael TD Pat Breen
