Funding boost for Clare Animal Welfare services

Just under 35,000 euro in funding has been announced for six animal welfare services across the county.

15 thosuand euro has been allocated to Clare SPCA, based in Newmarket on Fergus, while just under 10,000 goes to Second Chance Animal Welfare Ltd. in Shannon.

Other groups receiving funds are Rover Rescue in Ennis, An Cat Dubh Sanctuary in Mullagh, BUrren Animal Rescue in Rubber and the Kilrush-based Irish Whae and Dolphin Group.

In all 1.9 million euro is being distributed among 142 animal wefare bodies nationwide to assist their work in the year ahead, while the allocation for Clare is nearly 2,000 euro higher than last year.
