Businesses in Miltown Malbay have expressed serious frustration over water disruption in the town and surrounding areas in the run up to Christmas.
It comes as Uisce Éireann is working to repair a burst water main, which the utility says may cause intermittent supply issues until 6 o’clock this evening, as well as in the Coore, Mullagh, Quility and surrounding areas.
In June 2021, the utility completed upgrade works on 5km of water mains, however the section between Mullagh Cross and the Coore treatment plant remain in tact, prompting concern locally that longstanding issues with water outages will continue.

Today’s outage is the second in less than a week and local Fianna Fáil Councillor Shane Talty says that the ongoing outages are damaging for businesses.
