The UL Hospitals Group says a surge in trauma and emergency cases at the region’s main hospital is behind the decision to redeploy staff and defer over 30 surgeries scheduled for Ennis General Hospital this week.
The patients had been required to self-isolate for two weeks ahead of their surgery, in line with UL Hospitals Group COVID-19 procedures
The UL Hospitals Group says it regrets that procedures were called off at short notice, and has added that it will reschedule the patients concerned at the earliest opportunity.
