Fresh talks to avert Aer Lingus strike

Talks are taking place  aimed at averting next week’s planned industrial action at Aer Lingus which would ground flights at Shannon Cork and Dublin Airports.

Staff at the airline are to take part in a two hour work stoppage – as part of a row over a 748 million euro pension deficit.

Officials from SIPTU are considering clarifications on proposals put forward by the Irish Congress of Trade Unions and the Irish Business Employers Confederation.
