Fresh concerns have been expressed in West Clare, after the HSE confirmed it’s undertaking a review of its facilities to provide a primary care centre in Kilrush.
The development was announced back in 2019, with expressions of interest for potential accommodation for the HSE being sought in the months afterwards.
The health body now says it’s assessing ‘overall requirements’ in the area, with the work having been delayed as a result of the pandemic.
Responding to a parliamentary question from Clare Sinn Fein TD Violet-Anne Wynne, the HSE says it remains ‘fully committed’ to completing the review.
However, Deputy Wynne is expressing concern about what she describes as a ‘roll back’ on the original commitment, and overall healthcare access for residents of West Clare.
