Fresh Concern Over Lack Of Work On Holy Island

Fresh concern is being expressed about a lack of action in promoting Holy Island as a major tourist attraction.

It’s now been three years since the historic ecclesiastical site was brought into public ownership, and a year ago, a plan to revamp the island and market it as a tourist destination was adopted by the local authority.

But now, concern is being expressed in that part of the county that little has been done since then, despite coming into a fresh tourist season.

While things are said to be progressing behind the scenes, recently-elected Cathaoirleach of the Killaloe Municipal District Fine Gael’s Pat Burke says it’s vital that promotion work gets underway:
