Fresh Claims Clare Being ‘Discriminated Against’ In Affordable Housing Policy

There are fresh claims that county Clare is being ‘discriminated against’ when it comes to the State’s affordable housing policy.

Access to Clare County Council under the Government’s Affordable Housing Fund is currently only available in settlements of over 10,000 people.

The local authority has requested a review with the Department of Housing to assess Ennis’ eligibility, which will be followed by Shannon if successful.

However, Independent Councillor and Social Development Strategic Policy Committee Chair Gerry Flynn says a change in policy is needed.
