There have been fresh calls made for ‘more transparency’ surrounding consultancy fees paid out by Clare County Council.
A Clare FM investigation last month revealed €5.5 million was spent by the local authority here on outside expertise last year, a threefold increase since 2017.

The matter’s been raised at this week’s monthly meeting of elected representatives, which heard calls for the Council’s Executive to make a greater use of in-house staff within the organisation.
Shannon-based Independent Councillor Gerry Flynn says where money is being spent should be made more clear.
