There are fresh calls for the reopening of Crusheen station ahead of the publication of a review of Ireland’s rail network.
The All Island Strategic Rail Review is set to recommend reopening a number of regional lines, including some that had been earmarked for greenways.

€1.5 million was granted for the stop as part of the Western Rail corridor back in 2010, before a government u-turn on the project in 2016.
Member of the Crusheen Railstop Campaign and local Fianna Fail Councillor Pat Hayes says the example of Sixmilebridge station should be looked at for the facility.
