The Free GP care scheme for children under six comes into force today.

79,000 children across the country have been registered for the new service, while here in Clare 46 GPs have also signed up.
This represents 87% of the county's doctors, who are based in areas including Shannon, Kilkee, Kilrush, Ennis, Quin, Lisdoonvarna, Lahinch, Tulla, Scarriff, Miltown Malbay, Doonbeg, Sixmilebridge, Killaloe, Ballyvaughan and Corofin.
