Four children are safe and well having been rescued from an island in Ballyvaughan Bay yesterday afternoon after becoming stranded during the rising tide
A major operation, involving the Galway RNLI Lifeboat and the Irish Coastguard Rescue Helicopter, was launched after the childrens’ father swam ashore and raised the alarm.

The children, a 10-year-old and three teenagers, were brought safely ashore to the Quay in Ballyvaughan.
