The research assessed around 8,575 kilometres of Ireland’s coastline at 250-metre intervals, with Kilkee, Doughmore, Lahinch and Fanore among the areas classified as having very high exposure.

Fanore native and geoscientist Kevin Walsh, who’s the lead researcher on the project, says the research could provide a useful tool for the local authority when it comes to future planning.
