Four people have been arrested in Clare as part of an ongoing garda operation into dissident republican activity.
The three men and one woman are being held at various garda stations across the county and can be questioned for an initial 24 hours.
These arrests following planned searches by Gardaí at four separate locations in the East Clare, Shannon and Ennis areas early this morning.
According to Gardaí sources four people -three men and a woman – aged from their early 20’s to their late 50’s were detained on suspicion of membership of the Real or Continuity IRA.
A number of items were also recovered during the searches which are part of a nationwide operation into dissident republican activity
The four are being held at separate stations in Ennis, Shannon, Killaloe and Ennistymon under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act and can be initially questioned for up to 24 hours.
