The death has been announced of Flan Galvin, the former Managing Director of the Clare Champion and former chairman of Clare FM.
Mr. Galvin, a native of Kilnamona, ran the newspaper from 1969 to 1994, while he was also the chair of Clare FM when the station went on air in 1989.

Mr. Galvin is predeceased by his wife Gemma and survived by his sons Anthony, John and David as well as a wider circle of family and friends.
His remains will lie in repose at his residence tomorrow evening, before funeral mass at Ennis Cathedral on Wednesday.
The current chairman of Clare FM, Maurice Harvey, has paid tribute to Mr. Galvin.
