A former Mayor of Ennis, has said that comments by Peter Casey on Travellers opened up a debate that needs to be taken on board.
Ann Norton nominated the businessman, which ultimately resulted in the Council supporting him in the Presidential election.
He later stated that if he were to be elected, he would appoint the Barefield Independent Councillor to his Council of State.

11,700 people in Clare voted for Peter Casey in the Presidential election, and Councillor Norton says their vote has to be respected.
